Two Mud Runs and a Pear Tree

Earlier this year...October to be exact, I participated in two 5k mud runs a weekend apart. This is a quick summary of photos from both runs.

On October 5th, some co-workers and myself did the Mighty Mud Dash. Our team was named the Bay-Porte Bulldogs. It was my first time doing this run and I have to say...there is a huge abundance of mud. Ha!

On October 11th...a week later several friends from Camp Gladiator and myself did The Gritty Goddess. This was my 4th time doing this run and it was the funnest one yet! The Gladiators Gone Gritty got 'er done.

Walk to End Lupus NOW - 2014

Today, a group of us did the Walk to End Lupus NOW. My friend Nelva and several other people I know suffer from Lupus, a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. I cure NEEDS to be found for this terrible disease.

Gritty Goddess - April 2014

My friends and I have been doing the Gritty Goddess Obstacle Mud Run in Galveston for almost two years now. We are part of an outdoor bootcamp program called Camp Gladiator. I love the CG program because it's trainers and other contenders provide so much encouragement and team work. It is definitely a program for all fitness levels. Simply put, we are family...

The Gritty Goddess event takes place at Moody Gardens twice a year - around April/May and again around September/October. It is the best time I have ever had doing a fitness event...which is why I keep going back over and over.

I did the April 2014 Gritty Goddess last weekend. Below are some of the photos that I took as well as the full gallery of images.

All images (except for the one at the bottom of this post) were taken with my Nikon Coolpix AW100. It's good to have a waterproof camera for an event like this.

FotoFest 2014 Biennial

My series titled "Shelter Dogs" was on display at Jomar Visions this passed Friday and Saturday during the FotoFest 2014 Biennial. It was an awesome two days meeting new people and catching up with friends. My series statement and the photos I included in the "Shelter Dog" series are below.

SHELTER DOGS - Series Statement

"The photos in this series were taken during my days volunteering for the League City Animal Shelter.

Put quite simply, I have a love for animals. When I started volunteering at the animal shelter, I had no idea just how much the dogs and cats would affect me. You start learning their names and talking to them as you walk through the kennels. It can be quite emotional when you see one adopted that has been in a kennel for months and months. I am happy they are going to a home, but sad I won't see them anymore.

The photos in this series are of dogs that I played with, cleaned up after and loved during my volunteer shifts. Most have gone to loving homes, but some are still with us at the shelter.

My hope is that others will look into the eyes of these beautiful dogs and see the love that I see each and every time I visit the shelter."

Event: Paws & Claws Adopt-a-thon 2013

This past weekend several area shelters joined forces to find some awesome dogs and cats forever homes. The event, headed up by the Friends of League City Animal Shelter organization, took place at the League City Civic Center from 10AM - 3PM and was a glorious success! There were 79 adoptions during this event and that is just plain AMAZING!

Below are the photos I took of the event as well as well as links to my galleries on my social media pages.
