This week we took a day trip to Prescott and visited the Museum of Indigenous People. They had an exhibit called Rez Dogs which really grabbed my attention. Below are some of the rescues that work with the reservation’s stray dogs. I think it is important to recognize these organizations.

I am Rhonda Tipton, a photographer and aspiring digital artist residing in the small town of Wenden, Arizona. My work includes a wide range of subjects; however, I feel my purpose on this Earth and specialty is telling the stories of those without a voice through my pet, animal shelter and rescue photography.

Some things I ran across in the past week that was interesting, helpful or maybe even life-changing to me. If any of it helps you...all the better.

Squarespace Note - I heard about this app on a podcast and have been using it like crazy. I was so excited about it, I even did a separate blog post about it. It basically takes a note (typed or dictated) and emails it to you, so you can review it at a later time. It is a very simple, clean interface. Highly recommended.

5 Minute Journal - I first heard of this journal app/tool from a Tim Ferriss podcast. I downloaded the app...which is a little pricey at $4.99 a few days ago and it has really helped me focus my daily intentions. There are two major sections you fill out each day.

  1. Morning: List three things you are grateful for followed by three things that will make this day great. There is also a place to enter your daily affirmation.
  2. Evening: List three amazing things that happened during the day followed by what would have made the day better.

I do not know if it is the structure of it all that I really like or what. People close to me would probably say that is exactly why I like it.

Here are a couple of articles about the 5 Minute Journal --

When people ask me "ooooh, what breed is that dog?" I now say "why it's a shelter dog! They are beautiful and awesome!" One of my volunteer friends found a wonderful article titled: Shelter Removes Breed Labels After Studies Shows They Unfairly Affect Dog Adoptions

My hope is that one day all shelters do this because it is unfair to all the wonderful dogs that reside there.

I leave you with one of my favorite images from the week. Have a wonderful weekend!
