Shelter Photo Summary - Week of November 21 2016

League City shelter this week. The precious babies from this week are below. Adopt don't shop...please give a shelter animal a chance.

Letting the Shelter Animals Shine

I'm a firm believer of getting the shelter dogs out of their confinement and capturing their true spirit. You can't rightfully judge an animal for their behavior in a kennel. You have to get them away from the noise of the other dogs and bond with them. You will be amazed at the difference in their behavior.  I have displayed a few examples below.

MICKEY & MINNIE

BERNIE

While intake photos are needed and get the sympathetic "Awwww, poor baby" response from the public, I believe photos of the animal outside the kennel environment draws more attention and ultimately results in an adoption in a lot of cases.

Shelter Summary - Week of September 7 2015

I met Cheryl at the League City Animal Shelter on Tuesday and while it was miserably humid outside, we got photos of several dogs.

Fearing that the weather would interfere the rest of the week, I met with Troy at the Nassau Bay Animal Shelter on Wednesday morning to take photos of a couple of small dogs and some kittens.

On Thursday, I decided to drop in at LCAS to take photos of a couple of cats. Thanks to Delia for help wrangling. Crimson and Hazel were awesome!

2015 Paws & Claws Adopt-a-thon

This year's Paws & Claws Adopt-a-thon was held at Hometown Heroes Park. There were several shelters participating as well as many vendors.

The final numbers are below:

  1. Eventwide: 214 Adoptions (unsure of the dog/cat breakdown)
  2. League City Animal Shelter: 61 total (43 dogs and 18 cats)

There were also Flyball and K9 demonstrations.

Below are some photos I took during this wonderful event.

Between the Clear the Shelters Campaign a few weeks ago and the Adopt-a-thon, a LOT of awesome cats and dogs have found homes. That's what it's all about!

Shelter Summary - Week of August 17, 2015

I made it to the League City Animal Shelter twice this week. So many awesome dogs and cats that are looking for homes. I would have liked to have done more, but the rainy weather was a major factor this week...and I became ill mid-week.

After I got over my illness, I was able to make it to the Baybrook Petsmart for a little bit on Sunday to take some shots of LCAS volunteers and animals in action.
