Shelter Photo Summary - Week of OCT 7 2016

Busy week and weekend, so only one shelter this week. As always, there are beautiful gems in these shelters...you just have to be patient and give them a chance.

Shelter Photo Summary - Week of OCT 31 2016

Two shelters this week. Both League City Animal Shelter and Bayou Animal Services have so many beautiful dogs and cats up for adoption. It always baffles me how so many babies end up in these shelters. Below are the wonderful babies from this week. They are in no certain order and the shelter is noted on the photo itself.

I leave you with Mr. Oreo. He sure does love a good belly rub!

Shelter Photo Summary - Week of OCT 24 2016

Three shelters this week. Nassau Bay on Monday, League City on Tuesday and Bayou on Saturday. So many wonderful babies! All of the shelters have a lot, but Bayou is at capacity and is in extreme need of fosters and/or adopters. Below are the ones I took photos of...they are in no certain order and the shelter is noted on the photo itself. #adoptdontshop

I will close with my favorite out-take(s) of the week.

(1) Mike getting love and attention from a couple of canine companions at the League City shelter. (2) Kodiak, ready to play at the Nassau Bay shelter. (3) Oracle looks so happy to be out of her kennel and getting some attention. She is the sweetest girl!

Two shelters this week. Both League City and Bayou Animal Services have so many homeless animals that are needing a loving home. Below are the ones I took photos of...they are in no certain order and the shelter is noted on the photo itself. #adoptdontshop

"Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France

I will close with my favorite out-take of the week. This baby was very scared by all the noises of the barking dogs around her and a stranger on top of all that. My assistant/husband carried her to the spot we took her photos. She was fine once she got away from all the chaos and is a sweetheart.

Letting the Shelter Animals Shine

I'm a firm believer of getting the shelter dogs out of their confinement and capturing their true spirit. You can't rightfully judge an animal for their behavior in a kennel. You have to get them away from the noise of the other dogs and bond with them. You will be amazed at the difference in their behavior.  I have displayed a few examples below.

TOMMY & TEDDY

REDD

ZEUS

MICKEY & MINNIE

ROXIE

BERNIE

While intake photos are needed and get the sympathetic "Awwww, poor baby" response from the public, I believe photos of the animal outside the kennel environment draws more attention and ultimately results in an adoption in a lot of cases.
