Below are some of the various photography outings and events that happened during March 2013.

1. Austin Road Trip

With several destinations in mind (abandoned and not) , my friend and I took a road trip to Austin. Some of the places we explored included an abandoned warehouse near the AmTrak station, abandoned cotton gin in Neiderwald. Non-Working electrical plant, Hamilton Pool preserve and South Congress. Photo Outing | Mary Allen Seminary

Mary Allen Seminary Historical Marker

Last Saturday, a friend and I drove to Crockett, TX to photograph the abandoned Mary Allen Seminary. It was a rainy start to the day. We left Houston around noon and arrived in Crockett around 3:00...just as the skies started clearing. Perfect timing.

From Wikipedia:

Mary Allen Seminary was the first black women's college in the state of Texas. Initially a parochial school founded and run by white Presbyterians, it was restructured in 1924 and became an accredited junior college with an all-black faculty and black administrator in 1933. The school was closed in 1943, reopened the following year, and operated until 1972.

Below are some of the photos I came away with as well as links to the full galleries.

Photo Outing | Austin - NOV 2012

My friend and I recently took a spontaneous day trip to Austin. Fun fun times!  We started off with lunch at Wheatsville. Then walked all around the UT area and took photos followed by editing time at Starbucks. Last, but not least, dinner at the Mellow Mushroom. We were on the road back to Houston around 10pm. Needless to say, the gym was not a pleasant experience the next day.

Photo Outing => Downtown Houston - OCT 2012

My friend Rhonda was nice enough to invite me along while she went into downtown Houston to work on a school project. While the weather was a little on the warm side...it was a good day for shooting. Below are some of the photos I took as well as links to the full galleries.

Photo Outing => New Orleans - SEP 2012

A couple of months ago some friends and I made a quick, overnight trip to New Orleans. The street photography opportunities there are awesome! Below are some of the shots I came away with.
