Shelter Summary - Week of July 27, 2015

It's been hot outside this week. I made it to the League City Animal Shelter on Tuesday and Amanda from the Webster Animal Shelter brought one dog to Walter Hall Park for me to take photos of on Thursday.  I also met one of the Foster mom's from LCAS at the park on Sunday to take photos of the sweet pup she is fostering.

My 15 Minutes of Fame

It was a normal Monday morning. I woke up, got ready and headed to a coffee shop to edit photos, work on my website and watch tutorials. I got there and set up my little work area for the long haul and checked my email. There was an email from a dear friend that lives in Galveston.

Subject: ZOWEE

Hi, Rhonda. What a lovely surprise to see you on the front page of The Daily News, and in color! Such a nice story, it reminds me that I haven't seen you in a looooong time....

I had done an interview for the Galveston County Daily News a couple of weeks ago, but I was not sure when it was going to be published. So, on this Monday, it was a nice surprise.

I scanned the story:

A couple of fun photos:

I want to thank everyone for the out-pouring of support and kind words about my work and the article. There were about 240 total likes and 73 total comments...I am very grateful for all of the support.

Photos that my friends snapped (while getting donuts for the office...in the break room at work) when they noticed me on the front page:

I have been doing shelter photos since May of 2013. I went through every months worth of photos and counted how many animals I have taken photos of since the beginning. Almost 1000 animals...that's just crazy!

Pet Photo Session - Maximus and Allie

Date: 6/22/15 | Location: Nassau Bay Park

I started dealing with Max and Allie's owner on Saturday, June 20th, by that Monday we had decided to meet at 8:30am because Allie had not been feeling well and we wanted to do the photos sooner than later. We met at Lake Nassau Park on that hot, humid morning. There was hardly anyone around, so we let the two doggies off leash for a bit. They moved and sniffed around so much that I was able to get some really different angles on them. They are adorable.

Pet Photo Session - Mirra Jane, Lana and Crowley

Date: 4/9/15 | Location: Bay Area Park

Mirra Jane, Lana and Crowley...such well-trained pups. We were able to have them off-leash even with people and other dogs around. As soon as their owner called them, they returned to her feet waiting for another command. We started off in the dog park at Bay Area Park and then progressed over to the wooden walkways over the wetlands. It was a warm afternoon in April, so the summer heat had not set in yet. It was a fun day for sure.

Pet Photo Session - Murphy and Mazie

Date: 6/20/15 | Location: Nassau Bay Park

Murphy and Mazie were quite the gentleman and lady. They handled the hot, humid Texas morning of June 20th like champs...and I loved getting doggie kisses from Mazie ♥. Lake Nassau Park is a great location for photo sessions ( furry or otherwise 😉).
